Does Gaming Hurt or Help Your Brain?
Does Gaming Hurt or Help Your Brain?
It Depends!
According to research from the National Institutes of Health, games involving puzzles, problem-solving, and understanding dialogue are really beneficial for kids. Studies have shown that kids who play these types of games see improvements in their executive functioning, higher-order decision-making, and emotional regulation.
What about kids being on screens too much? Just like anything, we need to find a healthy balance. Setting a timer can be a helpful way to regulate playtime. At the end of the day, what really matters is the content of what they are playing, and whether it builds the character we want in our kids and ourselves.
At GreatCents, every one of our games is intentionally created to be a wholesome experience that extends what kids learn about Social Emotional Learning and Personal Finance in our books and lessons.
